The series chronicles the project from start to finish, featuring the inspiration, the design process, sustainability, the highs and lows of the project, and the financials. We get to know Kim’s engaging personality and watch her get her hands dirty as she pitches in to make her dream a reality, while learning about the details of what makes a high performance home.
Architect for the Three Day Cottage project, Jane merges sustainable, contemporary design with knowledge of historical contexts and detailing. The use of natural light and integration with the local context and environment are important elements in all her work. In 2015, Jane and her husband purchased property in Manotick and designed and built an environmentally conscious home that exceeds Passive House standards and integrates with the natural landscape. Though she has worked on a wide range of projects including apartment complexes, educational institutions, offices and farm buildings, Jane's practice focuses on the design of family homes, both renovations and new dwellings. Jane is a good listener and enjoys collaborating with clients to achieve results that both are proud of and that the client will enjoy for many years.
