The Conscious Builder Show – What is a Designated Substance Report?

What is a DSR? Designated Substance Report

Designated Substance Report (DSR)

Before any project starts, we, at The Conscious Builder, think about safety. The client and the team have to be safe at all times during the project. To ensure this, we order a Designated Substance Report if there is any suspicion that the home we work on might have any traces of toxic substances. The truth is that the construction industry, like all other industries, is perpetually evolving. We build and learn. Previously though it was not known that some substances used to create building materials such as drywall, tile, insulation, might be harmful to our health.

At the start of the industrialised era, manufacturers experimented and produced a variety of building materials, yet not all of them were safe. With time, we became aware of health issues related to these elements. As a result, the construction industry put in place measures such as mandatory DSRs to ensure health and safety for everyone involved.
